Part of this donation will come from the Fun Run event proceeds. 4:00 - 5:30 pm - Fun Run What is the Clayton Fun Run and Celebration? It is Clayton Elementary's biggest community event and fundraiser. During the Fun Run, registered Pre-K to 5th grade students run the loop around the school building. Each child will get recognized for each lap they do up to 6 laps (2 miles). Each grade has its own heat so the big kids don't overtake the little ones. It's an awesome sight to see the kids take off in excitement and all of the parents and other kids cheering them on! Then, after the run, everyone can relax and enjoy the Celebration. Each year the Celebration is a little different and this year, we're excited to have the D.J. stylings of our very own Mr. Guy! Other activities include a face painting, tattoos, Silent Auction, dunking booth, Clayton Jail and more. Come join in on the fun! Can parents run with their registered child(ren)? Yes, parents are welcome to run with their children, especially the younger ones. Parents/adults do not need to register. Can my children run together instead of their own heats/grade groups? Yes and we suggest your older child run with the younger group. Smaller kids may be overtaken by a whole group of older kids, but the choice is yours. Registered Pre-K children have been assigned to the same heat as their older sibling or may run with the Pre-K heat at 4:00 pm. Can I register my child for the Fun Run at the event? No, registration lasts for 3 weeks starting Monday, March 9th and ends Friday, March 26th. This deadline is required to have accurate numbers for t-shirt and water bottle orders. There is not on-site registration. Click to download Fun Run Flyer & Registration Form How old does my child need to be to register for the Fun Run? Any Pre-K (4-5 year old; year before starting Kindergarten) up to 5th Grade kids can register for the Fun Run. March 29th is the last day of registration. Click to download Fun Run Flyer & Registration Form Can my child's cousin/neighbor/friend run in the Fun Run? Yes! Any Pre-K (4-5 year olds) up to 5th Grade kids can register for the Fun Run. Your child does not have to attend Clayton to be a part of this fun event but all runners must register. The sibling discount only applies to children within the same household (ie siblings) and not relatives. Please fill out a separate form for each household. (March 29th is the last day of registration.) Click to download Fun Run Flyer & Registration Form I know it takes a lot of people to make an event like this work - how can I help? Glad you asked! We need LOTS of people to make this event run smoothly - sign-up for event day adult volunteers will be online so look for it soon. We also need youth volunteers (see below). Please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Marimel Ansdell, at volunteers@claytoncardinals.org with questions. My middle/high schooler is available to volunteer for their community service requirement. How can they help? We welcome youth to help during this event and we will fill out the appropriate paperwork. The youth volunteer sign-up will be online soon. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Marimel Ansdell, at volunteers@claytoncardinals.org with questions. Can I buy food/activity tickets at the event? You can either prepay for tickets on your registration form and get them in your child's race packet before the event, or you can buy at the event. Tickets are just $1 each. Prices vary for food, drink and activities. Will I need to bring money to the event if you're taking tickets? All activities and food are paid with tickets at the event. If you didn't purchase tickets when you registered, you should bring cash or checks to the event to purchase them. Silent Auction purchases must also be paid for with cash or check (see below) and some of our sponsors will be selling some great items at their tables at the event too. Where are all the activities? In hopes of good weather, most activities will be outside in the back of the campus. The route for the run itself is on the drive that circles the building. The Silent Auction is located in the gym while the majority of the food is sold in the cafeteria line. The event map will be included in each race packet as well as downloadable here. Where do I park? There will only be street parking since all of the campus will be taken up by the event. We encourage you to ride bikes, walk or carpool if you can. Do I have to be present to win an item for the Silent Auction? No, but you must pay for and pick up your item on that Saturday from 6:30-7:15 PM, or make special arrangements with the Silent Auction committee. What is the live auction at 6:00 pm? There will be about 4 or 5 special items that will be publicized earlier that week that will only be bid upon in the live auction. Dr. Robinett will be the auctioneer! Can I pay for my Silent Auction item by credit card? The school can only accept payment by cash or check for the Silent Auction, so be sure to bring those with you to the Fun Run event. Meet great people, learn how & why things are done, and help out for a great cause. The more people involved, the less work for everyone. Fun Run Committee meetings are at 8311 La Plata Loop, 78737. (You can still help even if you can't attend the meetings!) The house is kid friendly so bring them along. The meeting schedule is:
